Hi everyone,
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Neal, who will be joining the Insiders team! Neal has already done some writing for us, as you all well know by know, and has been really passionate about some of the things going on at UBC, particularly those to do with the NCAA. He is a graduate student in chemistry who is familiar with the way the university works, and I’m really glad to have him on board!
Apologies for my lack of posting, by the way- my 7 courses caught up with me and I’m now trying to catch up on about 10 chapters of reading that I put off to do my papers/lab reports/midterm studying! I will resume writing once things have settled down a bit.
thank god. it’s about time we get somebody writing here that actually cares about the issues.
maybe now we’ll actually get some real commentary instead of shoot-from-the-hip punditry and copy-paste announcements.
Unfortunately, Eddie, not all of us have time to run a blog while taking 7 courses and running a club. :)

…of course, it is probably better to do fewer things better than to do many things poorly…like this blog. in any case, i wonder if maayan and tim were any less busy.
after all, are we not judged more on our failures than on our successes?
Yeah- I did agree to writing for the blog with another person, and it was known that I would be busy. I was thus asked to blog on what I could, when I could, which is why I agreed to it. And you’d have to ask Maayan and Tim about how busy they are- I don’t keep tallies on these things.
I think that only people who judge anyone on their failures alone fail to consider the big picture, and miss out incredibly on life when they spend it judging others on trivial matters. I think it’s a bit petty to overlook the great things that people have done with their time and to instead focus on things that they might have not done the best job of because they were focused on doing more important things.

Eddie, I’ve done a bit of writing this year and I’ve learned that it takes a lot of work tracking down background information in order to produce really good pieces about issues on campus. Would you prefer it if there was only one post per month? It’s hard to know where to put the balance between quantity and quality.
