President’s Town Hall September 20: Mark Your Calendars

An email blast went out over the weekend announcing this year’s President’s Town Hall (details below). This is the event that replaced the AGM. I really like this event, and not just because of the hors d’ouevres.

While the presentation/annual report are obviously polished up by the PR department beforehand, the end of the meeting is a legitimate, unscripted Q&A session with the president. I just wish more people would show up to take advantage of this opportunity to get their questions and concerns out there to the university admin.

To: The UBC Community

I want to welcome our community back to campus for what promises to be an exciting new term at UBC.

A shared strategic plan is a good way for our community to pull together behind our common goals. Place and Promise: The UBC Plan (www.strategicplan.ubc.ca) was launched on December 2, 2009 after strong consultation with our UBC communities, internal and external.

The annual report (www.strategicplan.ubc.ca/annualreport2010) provides a comprehensive overview of the implementation of Place and Promise’s first year.

Please join me, members of the Board of Governors and my Executive team for an update on Place and Promise and other important initiatives at our university.
